Vegas - Poker Options
Poker is back! Well, actually it never entirely went away. Poker's popularity did decline significantly in the 1990's, so much in fact that some Vegas casinos even closed their poker rooms entirely. However, thanks to televised poker tournaments and the seemingly countless variety of free and cheap poker rooms online, poker is popular once again.
Poker options in Vegas will, just like in the online world, vary from casino to casino. Generally the poker player has a choice between Texas Hold'em, Omaha Hold'em and Seven Card Stud. Five Card Stud is an extremely well known poker variant, but is not often found in casinos because, for whatever reason, it is more associated with hobbyists than 'true' poker playing. Nevertheless, Texas and Omaha Hold'em as well as Seven Card Stud are all enticing, fun, and easy to learn varieties of poker.
The poker options surrounding just these three games are plenty, and usually involve specific rules regarding who takes the pot or higher or lower minimum or maximum bets. Omaha Hold'em can be played standard where the high hand wins the pot, but in many cases it is played hi-lo where the pot is split between the highest and lowest ranking hands. The real challenge here is, of course, to win the whole pot. Texas Hold'em is sometimes (though less often) played in such a manner. With quite a few poker options from which to choose (one could even include the many versions of video poker) it is not a bad idea to try these different games to see which suits you best.
