Six Card Stud

Six card stud is a very popular stud poker game. Each player is dealt six cards, with the first card facing up, and the remaining five cards facing down. The player with the best poker hand gets the pot.

The game can be played by up to eight people, with each player placing an ante at the beginning of each game. Two cards are then dealt to each player, one being a pocket card and the other a visible card. There is then a round of betting, followed by another visible card dealt out to each player. This sequence is then repeated until all six cards have been dealt. There is then one more round of betting before all cards are shown and the player with the best hand picks up the pot.

There are some tips that you need to be aware of if you are going to be a success at six card stud poker. You need to focus on the other players' visible cards, as you can see if you are losing the hand. If their visible cards are strong, or they beat your entire hand, it is probably best to fold. Also, if the card you need to improve your hand is visible in your opponent's hand, you have to consider this card dead.

The game is ideal for beginners, as the amount of visible cards on the table makes it easier for players to judge the strength of their hands. This aspect of the game means less concentration is needed, making it a great social game. Six card stud is a game of patience, so don't feel the need to bet all your money on a losing hand. Fold when necessary.
